Single Session Interventions
At Clinical Psychologists Australia, we offer Single Session Interventions for individuals, parents, and young people who are seeking focused, practical, and immediate support. Single Session work is ideal for people who may not need ongoing therapy, but would benefit from a dedicated, structured session to gain clarity, strategies, and direction around a specific concern.

Single Session Interventions are grounded in the understanding that meaningful change can occur in a single, well‑supported conversation. Many people already hold strengths, insights, and resources within themselves and their systems — they simply need space, guidance, and a skilled clinician to help them access and apply these capacities. Our approach is collaborative, strengths‑based, and tailored to your goals for the session.
We support adults, parents, and young people seeking help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, decision‑making, school‑related issues, and emotional regulation. Single Session work can also be helpful for neurodivergent individuals, including Autistic and ADHD clients, who may benefit from targeted support around specific situations or transitions.
Our Single Session Interventions are primarily informed by Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy — an evidence‑based approach that helps you identify what is already working, clarify your goals, and take meaningful next steps. While Solution‑Focused work guides the structure of the session, we also draw on other evidence‑based modalities where appropriate, such as ACT, CBT, or IFS‑informed parts work, depending on your needs and preferences.
Each session is designed to help you:
-
Clarify what you want from the session
-
Explore your existing strengths and resources
-
Identify what is already helping, even in small ways
-
Understand barriers or stuck points
-
Leave with practical strategies or a clear plan
Some people choose a Single Session as a standalone experience; others use it as a way to check in, reset, or gain direction before deciding whether ongoing therapy is needed.
